Hello!
Artist Statement
Art has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Long before I became an architect, drawing was how I explored, understood, and connected with the world around me. What began as a childhood passion has grown into a lifelong creative practice that continues to shape the way I observe and experience life.
As an architect, I have developed a deep appreciation for form, proportion, light, and space. As an artist, I am drawn to the stories, emotions, and moments that exist within and beyond those structures. My work spans portraiture, figurative art, urban sketching, and travel journals, each serving as a way to document experiences and preserve a sense of place and memory.
Sketchbooks are at the heart of my practice. They accompany me through travels, everyday observations, and moments of curiosity, becoming a visual record of encounters, impressions, and ideas. Through drawing and painting, I seek not only to capture what I see but also to express what I feel in a particular moment.
My work is an invitation to slow down and look more closely—to find beauty in ordinary scenes, meaningful details, and the stories that surround us every day.
I’m Keerthana Arumugam, an architect and artist with a lifelong love for drawing and painting. Art has been a part of my life since childhood, long before I began my journey in architecture, and it continues to be an essential part of how I see and understand the world.
My work includes portraits, figurative art, urban sketches, travel journals, and observational drawings. I am inspired by the people, places, and everyday moments I encounter, and I enjoy capturing them through sketchbooks and finished artworks. While my architectural background has shaped my appreciation for form, composition, and detail, my artistic practice allows me to explore stories, emotions, and personal experiences more freely.
For me, art is a way of slowing down, observing closely, and creating meaningful connections with the world around me. Through each drawing and painting, I hope to share the beauty, character, and inspiration I find in everyday life.
