Datura stramonium
A study of nature through colour, form, and texture, this gouache painting explores the quiet drama of tropical foliage and hanging trumpet-shaped flowers. Deep blues, emerald greens, and touches of luminous yellow create a rich, layered palette, allowing each leaf and bloom to emerge with its own rhythm and character.
The composition balances bold botanical forms with the softness of the warm paper ground. Rather than pursuing botanical realism, the painting interprets the plant through expressive brushwork, amplified colour, and flowing contours, turning a familiar natural form into something more abstract and atmospheric.
